SCHOOWEAR CARE INSTRUCTIONS

How to Care for Your Acrylic School Jumpers:

Arylic school jumpers are known for their warmth, durability, and easy wear. But if you want to keep them looking sharp all year long, it's important to follow the right care routine.

At Truly Fare Schoolwear Outfitters, we often get asked:
“Can I tumble dry my child’s school jumper?” or
“Should I iron it?”

The answer? No ironing. No tumble drying. No fabric softener.

Here’s why — and how to wash your school jumper the right way.

DO: Wash on a Cool, Gentle Cycle

Use a cool wash (30°C max) and choose a gentle spin setting. Hunter jumpers are made with premium-quality acrylic yarn, which is designed to be soft yet tough. A hot or aggressive wash can cause the fibres to lose their shape or pill (bobble).

💡 Top tip: Turn the jumper inside out before washing to protect the outer fibres.

🚫 DON’T: Tumble Dry

Tumble dryers are the enemy of acrylic knitwear. High heat can cause the jumper to shrink, warp, or go stiff. Instead, lay it flat to dry — ideally on a towel over a clothes horse — to help it retain its shape and prevent stretching.

🌀 Avoid hanging jumpers when wet — they can stretch under their own weight.

While we can not guarantee pilling will not happen following the instrustions above will help to reduce this.
